Set on one of the prettiest roads in Arundel no 27 Maltravers is ideally located, being a few minutes’ walk from the centre of town. With old beams befitting its age, a working fireplace in the kitchen and a spacious south-facing terraced garden, this is the quintessential English country cottage. Superbly decorated and fitted out to a high standard, this family home not only offers comfort and style, but is also amazingly spacious for a two-bedroomed cottage.

The large kitchen at the front of the house is well-equipped and has a working open fire. The French doors at the rear of the spacious living/dining room lead to the south-facing garden which gets sun for most of the day. The path to the side of the garden, separated from it by an ornate ironwork fence, leads to a twitten (rear passageway) to the town centre. Please note the garden is private but the pathway is also for the use of the next-door neighbour.  There is a small drop of approximately a foot between terrace and path so do be aware of this if you are thinking of coming with very young children. The garden is terraced in stone and brick, is decorated with many ceramic pots, and has various levels, so guests should be aware that young children should be closely supervised.

Off the large landing upstairs are the two beautiful bedrooms and a family bathroom with bath and shower. The master bedroom has a super-king bed which can be split into two single beds and bedroom two has a double bed. Both rooms are charming and spacious and have a wonderful cottagey feel.  We have a z bed if you need to take maximum capacity up to 5 guest which is charged at an additional £13 per night.

Well behaved dogs are welcome but they are not allowed on the furniture, upstairs or to be left unattended at the property.  There is a charge of £25 per dog for stays up to 7 days and £25 for each subsequent week.

Minimum booking length low & mid season is 3 nights and high season is 7 nights.

We have a primary renter minimum age requirement of 30 years old.

Arundel is only 11 miles from Goodwood Racecourse and Motor  Circuit which are the homes of the infamous Goodwood Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival and Glorious Goodwood making it the top destination for accommodation over the festivals.  Please note we do not accept Goodwood bookings for less than 4 nights.

Please note this is not an automated booking system.  If you would like to make a direct booking please contact me by phone on 01747 824 772 or 07974 740980 or email me at info@lauralye.com with your full address and mobile number and I will send you the booking information and contract.

For direct bookings 20% + deposit is due on booking with the balance due one month before your booking date.

Reviews

Lovely cottage with good facilities. Great location in the village. Good outside space for use in the sunshine. Felt very comfortable. Parking can be an issue on the road. We always found a space, but not always near the property. This is an old and beautifully refurbished house, however, due to it's age it has some low door frames and if you are over 6' be aware that you might need to watch your head at times.
Jenny - June 2023
Fantastic food on the doorstep and beautiful Arundel to explore. The garden in the house was lovely and sunny spot for breakfast first thing and loved the quick back gate access out to the town.
Marie - May 2023
A comfortable stay in a very interesting town.

Augustus - April 2022
Full of character and so conveniently located, this property is the perfect get away spot to enjoy the town and its many great restaurants. It has everything you could want making for a very comfortable stay.
Stuart - March 2022
This house is of a very standard, beautifully finished, super cosy, ultra charming and minutes walk from the centre of the village.
Luke - November 2021
My wife and I had a fantastic stay at 27 Maltravers. The house is lovely, very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The kitchen equipment is excellent too, make cooking a pleasure. It's very convenient for Arundel and to explore the South Downs and coast. Highly recommended.
Robert - September 2021
A beautiful and deceptively spacious cottage in the centre of Arundel, with a wonderful and cosy home from home feel. Facilities were excellent with a very well equipped kitchen and a lovely bathroom. Laura was a fantastic host and along with her team, communication was prompt, easy and helpful. Overall a wonderful stay and I will definitely book again!
Pauline - May 2021
Honestly the most perfect cottage ever! Everything is just amazing: location, cleanliness, decoration, kitchen (never seen such a well equipped kitchen outside my own home!). We stayed with our seven month old daughter and the high chair and travel cot provided just made it all so easy. We loved Arundel too, what a gem! So many wonderful trips to do in the area. Definitely don’t miss the castle gardens and we loved West Wittering Beach and West Dean Gardens for a day visit. We are already planning to return in summer! Thank you Laura!
Eveline - April 2021
Fantastic house, very clean and really well equipped-beautiful garden which we were lucky to be able to use for our breakfasts - the house is very central, a few minutes easy walk to shops, restaurants, castle - to everything. We will definitely be coming back... thank you
Dawn - April 2021
A beautiful cosy space, in a perfect location well located for the pubs and restaurants of Arundel - and a great little garden for when the sun shines. The Parsons Table and the China Palace are my top tips! Great comms from Laura throughout and would love to return!
Peter - July 2020
We had a delightful stay at this picturesque cottage. I couldn’t imagine a better location for wandering around all the fantastic eats and attractions of Arundel. We really enjoyed the charms of the house, like the beautiful beams and the unique log fire in the kitchen. Whilst we were there during storm Ciara, swiftly followed by storm Dennis, we felt warm, cosy and wouldn’t hesitate in returning. Everything worked as it should, everything was clearly explained and the bathroom and kitchen have all the mod cons, with an upmarket feel. There is plenty to do both in Arundel and the surrounding area, and we would highly recommend choosing to stay here. Jennifer & family

Beautiful cottage with lots of character. It was impeccably clean and the bed was incredibly comfy. We would 100% return.

This is a beautiful, tranquil, quintessential Sussex cottage where you and your family will live, cook, rest and play as if you were in your own home. This is a lovely cottage and very cosy, you wouldn’t mind being rained in if it came to it. We relaxed in the garden and used the secret passageway to get to the local for a cheeky pint. The house is well insulated for winter, we used the lovely warm lounge room when we arrived early on a very wet and cold morning and warmed up straight away. A lovely short walk to bakeries, restaurants and Arundel’s main attractions and our 2 year old managed a walk to the river (slides and swings) if you don’t fancy dragging a pram or pushchair. An easy drive (whether you drive on the left or not) to market towns like Chichester and the beaches along the coast make this home central to a mixture of things to do for the family. This is one review I should not have written in fear that I won’t be able to book myself again!!! Don’t look any further if you are planning on staying in West Sussex. There will be very few homes that have considered everything and are as lovely and homely as Maltravers, Regards Mark

We had a wonderful week staying here with our 6 month old. The location is perfect for exploring Arundel and the surrounding areas. The cottage is fantastic with everything you need, there's plenty of space, we enjoyed the garden and the bed was very comfy! We'd definitely return, thank you.
Ali - July 2018
Fabulous house with a great kitchen, big living room and fabulous garden which is excellent for BBQs. The bedrooms are really big and the bathroom is very modern. They have thought of everything and it is like a home from home - although probably a bit nicer. So close to shops, pubs and restaurants. This is the perfect AirBnB to explore stunning Arundel.
Jonathan - May 2018
The cottage has everything you could need and sits in a wonderful street close to town. There are many pubs and restaurants within a 5 minute walk and the amazing Arundel castle too!
